bookworm
holy spending spree, batman! yesterday, in a leisurely traipse around uptown before rehearsal i made a few stops. one of which i’ll have to make again tonight (and that’s all i’ll say on the matter), but the other was at my local favorite book store, magers & quinn.
it was there, that i accidentally spent $35 dollars on books. 3 of them. i’m at the end of my reading queue and figured it was time to stock up. but, it was this morning i realized i should use these three purchases to check and see how many people actually read this blog. so, i propose a survey be administered:
force troy to read a book before two others he will eventually read
an awesome survey
post a comment stating which new book you want me to read first
Coraline, by Neil Gaiman
When Coraline attempts to leave her family’s new flat, she discovers that she and her family are trapped by a dangerous presence, thus a battle between good and evil must take place in order to break out and set her loved ones free.
Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, by Susanna Clark
All is going well for rich, reclusive Mr Norrell, who has regained some of the power of England’s magicians from the past, until a rival magician, Jonathan Strange, appears and becomes Mr Norrell’s pupil, in a witty fantasy set against the backdrop of nineteenth-century England.
A Walk in the Woods, by Bill Bryson
A wry account by the author of The Lost Continent traces an adventurous and arduous trek past the Appalachian Trail’s natural pleasures, human eccentrics, and offbeat comforts.
speak now, or forever hold your peace.
ps – i realize this could backfire, and i could find out the horrible truth that no one cares. but, it really doesn’t matter. i just thought this would be fun. so, if anyone feels so inclined, forward this post to anyone and everyone and we’ll find out what ALL OF AMERICA wants me to read.

I’ve had the most wonderful of times ready stories of travel and the adventures that come with said travel. From “Into the Wild” by Krakauer or “One for the Road” by Tony Horwitz (a book I recommend) and even the semi-travelish book “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” (I mention that because he does much more driving and travelling in the book than the movie).
My vote is for “A Walk in the Woods” simply because the sooner you finish, the sooner you’ll be able to tell me whether I should read it too.
Yay!
Thanks for the mention. We’re always glad to know when our books find a happy home.
We keep a blog, too. It has book news, store news, and events information: http://magersandquinn.blogspot.com/

I vote for “Coraline” by Neil Gaiman. As someone who has read all three of these books, I ensure you you will hate the other two.
Just kidding. About everything. I just like the name Coraline.
I do like Bryson though. My favorite of his is “The Lost Continent.”
Still, I vote for “Coraline.”
Now you’ve got a tie-breaker on your hands.
see- now I’m just going to complicate things…cuz I say “Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell” – because I keep seeing that in bookstores and thinking “do I want that? is that any good?” …and if you read it. you can tell me.
i read this. but I’m too lazy to comment.
