colds typically attack my head and throat, straying away from my nose but for a day or so, and even then it’s not much to fret over. my tonsils swell up and my voice evolves into a gravely rasp, not unlike a boy going through puberty, but moreover my brain decides my head is too small to hold it and tries, as it has before, to burst forth to find a larger, more cranial-centric host. i guess my lunch-hour forays into internet chess versus other desk-jockeys has backfired.

now, sleep is an elusive beast in my life as it stands. throw a virus into the mix and it disappears from the face of the earth altogether. enter: nyquil. one full dose of this shit will knock me out for up to 12 hours. it’s really something. even after a night of pint after pint i’ll arise after 8 hours or so (a headache usually my only bedmate). but one tablespoon of nyquil will make me feel like a sincere lightweight. if i do, unfortunately, rise before it’s effects have been allowed their time to wear-off, i will be drunk. straight-forward drunk. and was so for the first part of my day at the office this past thursday. and, with all of the construction whirring around me, i did suddenly understand all the anti-drug campaigns of my childhood.

all of this seems a bit moot now. another outing (forgive the pun) with nyquil last night, has put me in a considerably better state today (friday). though, regrettably, my voice still sounds like some sort of goblin cackle. although, at this rate, things will be back to normal around sunday (my voice may take a bit longer, though).

in other news, this is happening:

last year, i had the pleasure of receiving a performers pass that allowed me to see the shows for free. the catch was that i wasn’t a performer. haHA! however, that i was given that pass by one butch roy only supports the theory some people hold that he has an enigmatic little crush on me. this year, however, i will obtain a pass in the right by performing in not one, but two shows. one is of the zombie kind, which i’ll spill my thoughts on at a later date. (another pun! delicious) however, i did have the pleasure of being doused in makeup and photographed by one Nisa Finn, and you can check that out in my portfolio section.

*i performed a total 7 shows in 36 hours, a draining task even for a partial insomniac like myself.
