i had recent computer misadventures with the folks at a small shop called General Nanosystems. long story short, they fried my motherboard. i’m writing from my newly updated laptop which is now my main computer. and i’m not sure why i didn’t do this before, as it’s about 5 times faster than my desktop.

a stern talk with the manager today and i’m getting a replacement motherboard for free. score and a half.

hopefully with addition of adobe’s creative suite 4 will make this the little laptop that could.

this new blog writing software is the bee’s knees. seriously.

i’m going to be globe-trotting in a minor sense over the next month. i get to be in London for Guy Fawkes Night. bonfires, carnivals, and more explosives than you can shake a stick at. expect stories and pictures.

on a globe-trotting note, i finally have access to the pictures i took when i went to the british isles for two months. expect a giant flickr album soon.

remember, remember the 5th of november.

the site has a new look. as i type that, i realize this is the third facelift the site has had in as many years. some might see this as finicky and restless, and they would be somewhat right. though, if you with google reader or netvibes will take two seconds to check out the actual site, you’ll see that i don’t merely change the look on a whim; i’m slowly honing in on a very good, easy to use, and tidy site.

i believe that this new layout is the best yet. think i’m wrong? take a look around the site. still think i’m wrong? you know what… fuck you.

many of you may have already seen this, but…

i’m inches from finishing a tome of a book, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, and i couldn’t be happier with my purchase. yes, it was a hardcover and therefore more expensive; yes, it’s an 800 page book leaving me hardly any other time to read smaller undertakings; and yes it was easily the heaviest thing i’ve carried around in my bag for this amount of time. but it’s a very, very well written book. i may, however, be a bit partial to it seeing as the book is set in early 19th century london. top hats, cloaks, carriages, etc. i love that stuff.

my next undertaking will be a much more inclusive subject matter.

i’ve purchased (or am literally about to (and when i say literally, i mean that my finger has to simply push the “confirm purchase button” at tiger direct.com)) a laptop. it’s nothing special, but it should be able to do all of the things i currently do on my pc, but a bit faster since it’s got a hell of a mother board. my hope is to post my future thoughts and travels from that.

oh yeah: i’m going to be backpacking through europe all summer. more to come…
