at what point did the biking community become infected with the hubris and moral ineptitude to such a degree that they became unaware of the fact that they have to obey stop signs?

fellow bikers, here is a short list of traffic laws you must abide by.

probably because of gay marriage and abortions, god has decided to melt the midwest. yesterday was a record high. a time/temp marquee blinked 98° which is impressive given it was pure humidity.

i find all of this rather odd given that saturday morning gave us one hell of a thunderstorm, ruining some picnic plans i had with friends i haven’t seen in far too long. sadly, the picnic was pushed inside. but happily, that meant we could start drinking far earlier than would be socially acceptable.

as all parties do, ours ended up on youtube. please to enjoy.

i don’t know who is endowing me to take two workshops at this years TCIF, but i will have to thank them somehow. i am open to ideas that don’t involve sexual favors and/or assassinations.*

prince of persia is going to be released this friday. if it’s a success, here is my prediction of the first few big-budget video game to movie adaptations you will see:

  1. mass effect
  2. uncharted
  3. gears of war
  4. world of warcraft
  5. assassins creed

however this is what i would rather the be:

  1. nothing
  2. nothing
  3. nothing
  4. nothing
  5. nothing

i still need a job

*i am secretly open to this option.

a return to form 0

as any reader can gather, i have not been blogging as of late (read: for a month or two). the reasons amount to many things, the first and foremost being that i am a busy busy bee. though with march 31st fast approaching i have hung up a few spurs and given myself free time to spend with certain people, including my cat chuck. but, i digress.

among one of my time-suckers is a show that i’m happily contibuting my likeness to entitled Ka-Baam!! it’s an improvised comic book that’s being performed at the BLB every thursday in january at 7:00pm, with a special late show on feb 5th, at 10:00pm. learn more here, buy tickets here, then watch a video heavily featuiring my giggling puss below.

in an unrelated note, i will now explain the science behind Non-Newtonian Fluids.

chances are that many of you have had fun with a Non-Newtonian fluid in your lifetime, however you may not have known it at the time. probably because you were too busy being 5 and enjoying this weird, white fluidy-chalk that your parent/guardian/babysitter/captor whipped up for you to play with. that’s right; cornstarch and water create a Non-Newtonian fluid (often called oobleck)

in scientific terms the shear stress and strain rate in any Newtonian liquid/fluid is linear, meaning the volume and viscosity are perportionate; they opperate in synch with each other. however, with a Non-Newtonian fluid, the shear stress and strain rate operate independently of one another. there can be many factors that determine how they react: time, force, temperature, etc.

amazing.

survivors of the undead plague has begun our fall run with creature feature. we’ve had one show (last thursday) and it went quite well due to this season’s addition of mike fotis! he fits right in and gets to shit quick. in fact, i’d say if mike was known for something improv-wise, it’s trimming the fat with a chainsaw. well done, fotis.

in other improv news, damian johnson and myself performed at improv a go go in a group cleverly named “damian and troy.” it was very well received which felt great, seeing as i’m new to two-person improv along with the “feel it out” attack to scenes.

in hindsight, things were terrifically creepy. but everyone was laughing at it. but, still, it was deeply creepy.

regardless, damian and i find ourselves in the same boat on a lot of viewpoints and life-thoughts. in pattern, we’re both at the same point performance-wise, and this kind of performance is great for simply dipping your fingers into many abstract soups to get a taste of whatever spices it holds.

hopefully boytron goes this well.

cool. very cool. masterful. a bit dated, but still masterful.

on the subject of video games, and as the last link in the post above will indicate, i’m playing through the majestic Team Ico game, Shadow of the Colossus. in a word, breathtaking. the scale of the game and the execution are really something to behold.

thanks, Fred.

i just took part in a trip. things didn’t pan out exactly how i would’ve liked it to, but everything was welcome nonetheless. i learned a whole lot, especially that kalen schaefer is the cutest drunk in the whole wide world.

lotsa political shit happened in the last week. biden is now obama’s running mate, and obama has now officially received the demo nomination. biden, though looking a little too much like jimmy carter for my liking, seems apt for the role. now, with obama’s acceptance speech coincidentally falling on the 45th anniversary of Marting Luther King Jr.’s “I Have A Dream” speech, all eyes are on him.

best of luck, barack. Read more »

water on my pants 1

i arrived at work about an hour ago, and just spilled a healthy serving of water directly onto my crotch. nay, disinfectant juice from a clorox wipes container. aside from looking like i just pissed myself, my crotch is going to smell like a clean bathroom all day. good or bad? you decide.
